nba entertainment overload
This is my evening… plus trying to follow the game on TV.
This is my evening… plus trying to follow the game on TV.
Last night’s game was trippy. First of all, I had way too many things going on at once. The TV was going and I was semi-watching and listening to that and then I also had the BDL Live Blog open in one browser window on my laptop and the TNT quad cam open in another window with my headphones on. The TNT quad cam thing-a-majiggy is super cool and I highly recommend it. You get to hear so much more through that than you can hear through the TV. But I seriously almost hurt myself trying to keep up with so many different things going on at once… hehe. The very end of the game though, I watched from under the covers. I have to get up at 6:30am for my job and that game didn’t get over until midnight-ish my time. Or maybe it was the coverage that didn’t end until then, I can’t remember. I had to stay up to see what Kenny, Ernie and Charles (oh and Reggie) were going to say about the final play. My immediate thought when I saw the no-call was, “Hey no fair!” and then I remembered that I am supposed to hate the fking Spurs and should be happy… so I shut my piehole and went to sleep.
Tonight’s game… I still contend that its a coin flip. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Ooooh, wait wait wait… Jesus. Before I go, I just have to throw this out there. Michael Bivins should not be interviewing people for TNT. He’s just bad. Really bad. Sorry MB. I did giggle though when Mrs. Longoria Parker said, “He is a little bit of an actor” when asked about whether she worries about Tony’s health when he gets tossed around during games. Hehe. Gotta love her. ![]()
I’m not the world’s biggest IRL fan, but I do watch it when I get the chance and happen to stumble upon a race every other weekend or so. If I had to pick a favorite, I would choose Tony Kanaan because in interviews he seems like a cool guy and not a douchebag (like certain Nascar drivers who will remain nameless *cough Tony Stewart cough*). My least favorite IRL driver hands down is Danica Patrick. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard for me when they broadcast the in-car communication. *shiver* Not only is she whiny, but she’s only moderately talented and not at all worth all the hype. Last weekend, I think the IRL officials should’ve let her walk all the way down to Ryan Briscoe’s pit. If she’s going to be little miss hothead and storm into other driver’s pits, then she deserves to get knocked down on her ass. She had every right to be pissed, but storming down pit road was all show. What was she going to do when she got there? Pull out her fists of fury and go medieval on his ass? Didn’t think so. Its like when Kevin Harvick threatens someone on the Nascar track. What’s he got to back that crap up? All 170 pounds of him. Yap, yap, yap. They remind me of my dad’s two chihuahuas.
Horse racing is barbaric and I refuse to watch it.
Someone put Willie Randolph out of his misery already. This reminds me of the Joe Torre job watch from last year. Just rip off the bandaid, it’ll hurt a lot less.
Clear out Brett Favre’s locker for the love of elvis presley and all that is holy…
I should just stop reading NBA commentary. While I love the sport more than anyone should be allowed to, it sickens me how short people’s memories and attention spans are.
post-game 3 - Lets bury the Pistons! They’re dead.
post-game 4 - Lets bury the Celtics! They’re dead.
Nonsense. We’re tied people. If we go back to Boston and the Pistons win, well maybe we’ll just go back to Detroit and the Celtics will win. It’s that freakin’ even. So whatever… Just make up your mther fking mind and choose a team. I think they’re even in terms of who will win. Dead even. It’s not glamorous, its not pretty, but there it is… Of course I want the Celtics to win, but who do I think will win?
Flip a fking coin.
I’ve never been so happy to be right about something in my life. But, lets not get carried away here. I hate how people’s opinions change based on whichever way the wind is blowing. The Celtics don’t have any better of a chance now than they did a few days ago. Both teams are equally as likely to win the East and are equally as likely to bite it against whoever wins the West. It just is what it is. I’m cheering East all the way though regardless of whether its my team or Detroit.
It will be interesting tonight to see how the Lakers/fkingSpurs game shakes out. I think the (f)Spurs will win both games at home. I’m going to go out on a limb and pick the (f)Spurs in 7. I know the Lakers are the chic pick and I don’t deny their talent and the juggernaut that is Kobe Bean, but I think the (f)Spurs are (still) the better all-around team. (As I write this, I realize it could all blow up in my face with a bunch of Laker blowouts and a clean sweep… but, since I hate the (f)Spurs, I’d be a-ok with being 100% wrong.)
Work has been keeping me straight out busy lately, but I’ve still managed to watch a decent amount of the playoffs. It was funny the other night though to pass out from exhaustion around 11pm EST and have the Lakers down by 16 points or so and wake up the next morning to see that Kobe went off like a rocket and willed his team to the W. Kobe is Kobe so I suppose I shouldn’t have been that surprised, but anyone who can sniper a W from the fking Spurs is aces in my book. Tonight’s game should be interesting though. The Lakers must feel a little indestructable now… I know I would if I was laying in the sand dead and buried and still managed to vanguish the dragon.
Chauncey, Chauncey, Chauncey… You will haunt me in my dreams. Nightmares. Whatever. I knew the worm had turned last night when Billups went up for a 3-bomb and kicked Eddie House sqaure in the nuts on his way back down and then all cool and calm went to the line and buried 3 foul shots in a row. I’m not saying the Pistons have got this thing… because they don’t. These are two mirror image teams and the Pistons are just as capable of giving one away at home themselves. We’ll see.
In other news, congrats to the Big Ticket for his generous spirit…
The fking Spurs beat the Hornets last night. It did not surprise me in the least. This happens every single year, now doesn’t it? Practically. Someone asked me today why I hate the Spurs so much. Ok fine, I asked myself. It’s not my fault my friends are completely uninterested in the NBA. So yeah, I was wondering in my own head driving home from work tonight, why I hate the Spurs. The answer: because I like the Suns. Yes, it really is that simple and that seemingly illogical, but that’s my reason and I’m sticking to it. Robert Horry and Bruce Bowen are particularly offensive to me because of the way they defend. Tim Duncan is all kinds of amazing, but I hate that dopey “who me” look he gets on his face after every single call that doesn’t go his way. Tony Parker has annoyed me ever since those embarrassing interviews he did with Eva a year ago or so ago on Ryan Seacrest’s show. The one Spur I like is Manu Ginobli. I know he flops more than a pancake flipper at the International House of Pancakes, but I like him all the same. No particular reason why he gets a pass.
Pivotal game tonight for the Celtics. Most people have them dead and buried already and I can’t blame them for that. The Celtics should consider actually, oh I don’t know, showing up to tonight’s game and playing the kind of defensive that got them home court advantage in the first place. I’m praying they raise their game another level because they know they have to bring it against a team of Detroit’s caliber. *fingers crossed*
BDL is doing a live blog tonight. I’m worried for the comment intern though. No reference to her tonight… perhaps she’s already been canned. ![]()
*Note: Blog title is a line from “Not Another Teen Movie.” I do realize “brought’in” is not a word.
1. I think KG must have literally meant it when he said that the game plan was, “Pass the ball to Paul and get the hell out of the way.” But, that doesn’t actually really bode well for the C’s. See, I was trying to think about which Piston I was going to post a voodoo doll picture of today and I couldn’t narrow it down to one guy. They are balanced at every position and don’t rely on just one guy to carry them to the win. Not long ago, I would’ve described the Celtics that way too, but lately, not so much. Any given night, one or more is more likely to disappear than show up and needless to say, that’s not good. Me no likey.
2. Raise your hand if you really expected P.J. Brown to be an integral part of any win on-the-court in the post-season? If you’re raising your hand, you’re either Kreskin or a liar.
3. Missing shooting guard. If found, please return unharmed. No questions asked. Reward offered.
In other areas of my mind:
I watched the season finale of Keeping up with the Kardashians last night. So much of Kim Kardashian’s my boyfriend Reggie these days. Very interesting. Even more interesting is how he appears on the show, but doesn’t actually speak. Maybe its just as well. Some people should just sit there and look pretty.
Gossip Girl tonight. I can’t believe (well I can) that the “Serena killed someone” plot was so incredibly lame and they tied it all up in a bow in one episode. I hope it wasn’t the “jumped the shark” moment. I’ll miss Chuck if the show gets too sucky to watch.
There was no basketball jones podcast today so I decided to enjoy the archives and re-listened to the last 8 episodes. Good times, good times. I laughed out loud (again) in my office over the Scalabrine rap and the Nicola phone call. If loving that podcast is wrong, then I don’t want to be right. ![]()
Note to Jason Giambi and whichever teammates wear his golden thong - Ewwwwwwwww!
The Blowtorch posted the Spurs Game 7 Gameplan and it’s an instant classic…
Tomorrow is D-Day for the boys from Boston. I have come up with one final idea to stop Lebron James…

Duct Tape! Duct tape his legs together and his arms behind his back and maybe, just maybe… we can win game 7 and move on to the Pistons. If we manage that, I will sit in a circle of shamrocks and sing major kumbayas to the home court advantage gods and be on my merry way.
